5 Content Marketing Hacks For Attracting More Website Visitors (Plus Clients)

By

Every website owner probably wants more traffic coming into their site. I shouldn’t have to repeat the cliché that “traffic is the lifeblood of any blog”… I’m sure you already know that.

This is because you won’t get more clients without more traffic. It’s only when you’re able to bring people to your website that you will have the chance to convert them into customers.

In other words…

  • More traffic = More customers = More money

Does that make sense?

That said, if more website traffic has been your problem all this time, I want you to bring your seat closer as I’m about to unveil to you some great ideas you can use to attract more traffic to your website.

I want you to understand that there are many ways you can drive traffic to your site, but today, we’re going to talk about five ways you can hack content marketing to increase traffic.

5 Content Marketing Hacks for Attracting More Website Visitors

1. Come Up With Viral Content Ideas

First of all, you have to understand why certain content goes viral while others don’t. Once you’ve figured this out, it will become easier for you to adapt to what works.

According to Jonah Berger, an associate professor of marketing, Wharton School, useful and practical content that arouses emotion gets shared the most.

Emotions that make online content go viral

Gone are the days when all you needed to do was create content that appealed to Google alone. If you want to remain relevant in your industry today, your primary focus should be on your readers.

The search engines can come later.

It pays more to focus on valuable and emotionally driven content that your audience will highly benefit from. Once you’re able to achieve this, they will help spread the word about it.

You may not necessarily succeed at having viral ideas each time, but nailing it once in a while will go a long way in enhancing your website’s traffic and getting more clients.

To help you in your viral content idea brainstorming, provide an answer to the following questions:

  • Do you know of any trending idea that people will find interesting?
  • Is the idea funny? Can it be made funny?
  • Is your idea capable of arousing controversy in the industry?
  • Will adding videos, attention-grabbing images, or infographics to your idea make it stickier?
  • How can you easily reach out to industry influencers and ask them to share your content?

Don’t forget that great content marketing strategy with positive recipes will perform much better online. If you can continually stimulate positive emotions from your content, people will naturally be attracted to you.

You don’t have to reinvent the wheel here. Just identify good writers, authority bloggers, and leading marketers in your niche who seem to dominate the entire market with their content. Study them and use their formulas to craft your own engaging content.

2. Write In-Depth Articles

No matter how good you are at content promotion, if your content suck, you’re not going anywhere. Basically, for your content promotion strategies to yield a really positive result, your content must be epic.

This is the type of content that both Google and your potential clients will love.

What you need to do is research your topic thoroughly and make sure that you cover everything with precision and detail.

This type of article is usually over 2,000 words.

According to serpIQ, articles that contain 2,000 words or more tend to perform better on search engines:

Average content length of top 10 results

Therefore, by continuously publishing irresistible, thought-provoking, and in-depth articles, you will be able to attract not only more search traffic, but also more social shares.

Average Shares by content length

From the two charts above, you will see that long-form content converts better than short-form content. To back up this claim, a recent study performed by Marketing Experiments shows that on their homepage, long-form content outperformed short-form content by 30% in terms of conversions.

For you to be able to craft this type of content, do the following:

  • Pick a broad subject – e.g. email marketing, blogging, web traffic – then write about it in-depth.
  • Always target a long tail keyword in your title – e.g. how to make money as an affiliate blogger.
  • Extensively research current and accurate data and statistics to back up your claims.
  • Create interesting, engaging, entertaining, and educational content on the subject.
  • Include relevant graphics, videos, or slide presentations.
  • Link out to competent authority blogs.
  • Add a call-to-action (CTA).

3. Make Your Headlines Irresistible

Without a good headline, even the most comprehensive content will be ignored. Your headline is one of the most important aspects of your content.

If you wish to grab your audience’s attention, then you must learn how to craft attention grabbing and enchanting headlines. This is because you have only about 8 seconds to either keep or lose them to your competitors.

It’s no wonder that the experts say you should spend the same amount of time writing your content as you do writing your headline.

Writing magnetic headlines will not only bring you more visitors and potential clients, but it will always keep them coming back to your site.

4. Use Advanced Guest Posting

Basically, there are two ways to build a blog audience via content marketing:

  • Writing excellent articles on your own blog and getting important people to know about it.
  • Publishing quality-filled content on other relevant blogs in your niche.

Whichever you choose, what matters most is that you’re delivering value to people and thereby converting them into fans and customers.

However, while guest posting can help you build quality links from authority blogs, don’t make link building your primary focus; instead, use it to build a relationship and attract targeted visitors to your site who you will eventually convert to clients.

That was how the guys at GrooveHQ were able to reach over 1,000,000 people within their first year of blogging.

The best guest blogging strategy is to use it to build your audience and not to get links to boost your search ranking. Believe me, if everything is done properly, the links will naturally come without you asking for them.

Follow the steps below to improve your guest blogging tactics for better traffic and exposure:

Step 1. Search for relevant blogs in your niche.

By “relevant blogs”, I mean the blogs that already attract your ideal audience. To do this, simply go to Google and do some research – e.g. if you’re into social media marketing, you could search for the keyword “beginner’s guide to social media marketing”:

Search for relevant blogs in your niche

Now that you already know the blogs that attract the type of audience you’re looking for, let’s go to the next step.

Step 2. Analyze the site’s social influence.

The fact that a web page ranks high on Google does not mean that it will drive lots of traffic to your blog.

You need to find out how many people are likely going to share your post on Facebook, Linkedin, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.

To figure this out, input the blog’s URL into the Buzzsumo search field and discover the number of social shares their recent blog posts gathered. Let’s do this with one of the blogs we got earlier “business2community.com”:

Analyze the site's social influence

From this research, you can see that the blog posts published on business2community.com for the past six months attracted over 70,000 social shares. Isn’t that terrific?

This tells you that if you’re able to land a guest posting opportunity here, you should be able to drive loads of traffic back to your site. Not only that, but you will also gain authority links and a bunch of social shares.

Now that you’ve analyzed the site, the next thing you should do is dig into the website’s archive for some of their older posts related to your topic. Once you’ve found one that was well received by that site’s audience, hack it, and craft an even more detailed article covering the same subject.

Here, you want to make the headline really attractive and enchanting, and follow the points we’ve already made above to write the article. Ensure that it’s better than what’s already published on their site.

After you’re done writing the content, contact the blog owner and let them know about the post. If they accept it, the next thing you should do is to send outreach emails to other influencers who will help to promote the post.

5. Rinse and Repeat

You don’t want to apply these tactics once and start sleeping. While you are able to get a good amount of traffic if done well, you should always strive for me.

You want to keep on doing this until you’re tired of getting traffic to your blog (which I doubt you ever will be). The best approach to growing any business both online and offline is to keep on doing what works for you.

The more epic content you write and the more popular blogs you write for, the more exposure you get, the more traffic you’ll be able to drive back to your site, the more friends you’ll make, and the more money you stand to earn.

Therefore, once you’re able to publish an article on one popular site following the steps above, rinse and repeat the process for even more traffic and clients.

Conclusion

There are many ways you can attract more website traffic, and the best way is to try to do what works for others and see if it can have any results for you.

The strategies I’ve shared here are what have worked for many people, and I’m sure they will equally work for you, too.

Just make sure that when you are applying these techniques, you are paying careful attention to performing the process properly. If you do, you’ll notice that everything starts to work out just fine.

When you start to get more traffic, you can convert these visitors into clients and customers. That’s when the real magic of blogging takes hold.

What are some of the things you do to drive more traffic to your blog? How do you attract more clients? Let’s hear your thoughts in the comments below!

How to Index a Website in Google Search in 24 Hours [Case Study]

How to Index a Website in Google Search in 24 Hours [Case Study]

How to Index a Website in Google Search in 24 Hours [Case Study]

Having a website today is an essential part of an online presence, and it’s important that your target customers can find your website by your brand name in search engines.

Many businesses have already added blogs to their websites for faster indexing and for more exposure from search engines and social media.

In this article, I’m going to share information which will help you to make your site visible to search engines in no time.

Recently I worked on two websites – one for my client and one for myself.

The challenge with both was to index a website in Google within 24 hours. This is not a simple task, but neither is it an overwhelming one if you pay attention to what I am about to teach you here.

A proper strategy will help you to put your website into search engines within 24 hours – and maybe only in a couple of hours!

You can try the following instructions with any new domain you have purchased, or with any site which you created in the past but which is not getting traffic from search engines.

The first step is to determine whether or not your site is indexed in Google or any other search engines.

Go to Google.com and type site:domain.com  (Replace “domain.com” with your actual domain name, (example: shoutmeloud.com), and check to see whether the site is indexed or not.

If there are no results, it’s time to follow the steps below and get your site into Google. Here is a screenshot for my query:

Want to understand what we just did? let’s understand this..

What is indexing of a website?

Many of you may not be aware of the meaning of the term indexing. Indexing in SEO refers to search engines keeping a record of your web pages. When working on indexing of our site, we should target all major search engines (Google, Bing, Yandex etc).

Usually when a search engine bot comes onto your site, it starts crawling and, based on “index” and “noindex” meta tags, it adds pages with index tags in that search engine.

This is how you control what pages from your website should be found in the various search engines.

You can watch the video below from 5:27 to learn more about how search engines work:

Here is a synopsis of the strategy I used to put both my client’s website and mine into the search engines within 24 hours.

Apart from On-page SEO optimization like meta tags, meta descriptions and on-site SEO (noindex, nofollow), I used sitemap to put the websites into search engines in just a few hours.

Before you try to index a new website, make sure you have your content prepared, because you don’t want Google bots to come and crawl your empty homepage!

Make sure you do all of the basic onsite SEO work mentioned above first, and then work on the following steps to get your site indexed fast.

Guide to Indexing a Website in Google Within a Few Hours:

This strategy should work with all websites, as we will be using external sites to send crawlers to our site. The results also depend on how fast Google updates the newly indexed pages.

Note that if you are doing this work for a client, you may wish to research the index status in all countries to check for data replication delays.

Submission to blog networks :

We talk about blog directories and blog networks as though they were things of the past, but in fact even today networks and directories work.

As in the past, however, you should not submit your blog to every blog network or directory. Instead, submit your blog only to selected blog networks and directories, making sure to avoid link exchange directories!

Sitemap submission :

A sitemap is created to help search engine crawlers to effectively crawl your blog, so make sure you have created a sitemap for your site or your client’s site. If you are using WordPress platform for your website or blog, you can use popular Yoast SEO plugin or any of these sitemap plugins to generate Sitemap file for free.

Next, submit the sitemap to Google/ Bing/ Yahoo/Ask and other popular search engines.

Comment on other blogs

Since one of the sites in my example was related to a paid job and it had to be completed within a given time-frame, I added almost 30+ comments for on other popular WordPress website.

I did not check for do-follow or nofollow attributes, but I did comment on popular, high traffic blogs. This confirmed that search engine bots will follow the comment links and will land on my blog, and that is exactly what happened.

Popular website stats program :

IMT Website Submitter

Some of you may not be aware of websites which keep stats of domains or show the price and value of any domain. This is a nice way to get your site indexed, however submitting to multiple stat sites is not easy, so it may require a bit of manual work.

With this tool, all you need to do is to add the link and anchor text, and IMT submitter will submit your site to sites like who.is, “website stats” and other such sites.

Social bookmarking submission :

This is another very effective method, though somehow within four hours my website was in the search engines despite the fact that I did not seek social bookmarking submissions.

If you wish to do so however, you can start with

  • LinkedIn
  • Reddit
  • Pocket
  • Flipboard
  • Facebook (Public share)
  • Twitter

for faster indexing of your content.

Guest posting:

If your budget is sufficient and you have the necessary time and patience required, prepare 5-10 quality posts and ask your fellow bloggers in your niche for permission to publish your articles on their blogs as a guest author and enjoy the resulting backlinks.

If you are doing this for a client, buy 5-10 quality articles and do the same.

Along with backlinks it will drive some traffic to your blog. Try to guest post on relevant popular, high-ranking pages and on regularly updated websites.

Ping services:

Ping services offer another effective way to notify search engines of your existence. Pingomatic is one such tool which you can use to notify multiple search engines at once, and another you can try is Pingler.

WordPress does have a default feature to ping services, but giving one of these other options a shot can’t hurt.  If you are using WordPress, you should check out: WordPress ping services & update Ping services from your dashboard (It’s easy).

Here are my results, achieved within four hours:

The screenshot above is for one of my websites. I simply tried indexing that parked domain site for test purposes, so kindly avoid the meta description shown.

For your website, make sure you add a meta description and all of the other important SEO details, as you don’t want search engines to index useless pages of your site

I would love to hear your feedback about this post as well as your thoughts on any other information which might be useful to the topic of indexing websites.

How To Target Country-Specific Website Traffic

How To Target Country-Specific Website Traffic

How To Target Country-Specific Website Traffic

Over time, I have shared many different ways to drive traffic to your website, but as most of us know, traffic from countries such as the U.S. and the U.K. convert better in terms of advertising and affiliate sales.

This is because of the “purchasing power” of users from these countries.

For many businesses, it makes sense to target traffic from specific countries.

But, how do we do that?

There are many factors that can help you to get country-specific traffic. For example, ShoutMeLoud is a popular blog in India & also globally.

I could actually work on targeting more U.S.-based traffic, but whenever I iterate my blogging business plan, I realize that it’s better to target an Indian audience as it provides less competition and a better supply: demand ratio.

There are very few blogs in India that teaches how to make money from blogging in a practical manner. Being in this niche for several years, ShoutMeLoud has an advantage.

This reflects my particular case, but I’m sure there are many of you who are blogging for money, and you may want to target traffic from specific countries (like the U.S.A.).

In this post, I will share some ideas that are likely to help you improve the traffic from your target country.

There is, of course, the easy solution of buying country-specific traffic, which can work in the case of commercial and e-commerce sites.

But for a blog, going natural is the best way.

7 Ways Of Driving Country-Specific Website Traffic:

1. Domain Name Extension

Top level domain extensions like .com and .org usually rank higher on global search engines, but in order to have your blog or website target a specific country, buying a country-specific domain is always a good idea.

You may notice that most Aussie bloggers are using the .au domain extension, and they rank pretty high in Australian Google.

Similarly for India, you can target .in or .co.in as your domain extensions with good results in India.  For traffic from the U.K. (United Kingdom), grab a .co.uk domain extension for the best results.

In an effort to preserve your brand, you can also buy other TLDs like .com or .org. But one major disadvantage of this idea is that you will find it very hard to rank on other country-specific search engines.

So, if your goal is clear and you know your target audience, a country-specific domain extension is your best bet.

You can buy domains from NameSilo or Namecheap.

2. Google Search console Geo-Targeting

Google search console, a free tool from Google for bloggers and webmasters, will be very helpful to a blogger or webmaster seeking country-specific traffic. This tool allows you to set which country your website is targeted to, which helps you get traffic from that targeted country.

Here is to use the country targeting feature of search console.

Login to Google search console

Click on international targeting under legacy tools and reports

Now, on the next page specify which country you wish to target.

You can learn more about geo-targeting your website from this video:

3. Web Hosting Server Location

Another significant factor in driving geo-targeted traffic is your server location. If your target country for traffic is the U.S. (United States), you will want to host your website on U.S.-based servers. If you’re targeting traffic from Australia, host your website on Australian servers.

Example:

Other factors like CDNs also help to speed up your website in different countries, but in order to remain focused on your target, host your website only in the country whose traffic you’re targeting.

This will ensure that your website will load faster in that country due to the server’s IP, and search engines bots will be able to determine the location of your server.

All of this will help your site to rank higher in your target country.

4. Backlinks

When Google Search was launched, they used backlinks to determine the popularity of content. Much has changed over time, but the importance of backlinks remains significant. For this reason, it is a good idea to target country-specific backlinks.

For example, if your target audience is in the U.K., try to get more backlinks from U.K.-based websites.

You can get country-based backlinks by taking advantage of guest blogging opportunities, or by spending some time learning the art of blog commenting. Both methods are proven and Penguin-safe… if done properly.

5. Content Level Targeting

Your content is the main signal that Google uses to determine which country you are targeting. If you are targeting multiple countries with your generic domain name extension (.com, .org), add the country’s name in your posts’ meta titles and descriptions. This will not only make your content more keyword-targeted, but it will also give a clear signal that you are targeting a specific country.

Additionally, the kind of content and language you are using in your articles will also determine the ranking of your website.

We all know that readability is a known SEO factor, and if your language is following Indian standards, targeting U.S. traffic will be very difficult. For this reason, you need to be sure to improve your language for the specific country whose traffic you’re targeting.

You can also hire writers or editors from that specific country who have excellent writing and grammatical skills in that country’s language.

6. Local SEO Using Google my business

This may not apply to a generic blog, but if you are running a service blog or an e-commerce website, Google business is going to be very handy.

Claim your business in Google business, and add all related information such as an address, phone number, etc.

This will help Google to determine the location of your business.

You can also create social media profiles on various websites, and fill out the information in an effort to help you to get more local citations. You can use Knowem to check the availability of social media profiles.

7. Submit Website To Local Search Engines & Directories

I have previously shared a list of places to submit your website that are targeted to a global audience.

For country-based traffic, you should submit your website to local search engines and local web directories.

This will eventually become a very useful tool for getting country-specific backlinks, which will become a significant factor in determining the geo-location of your traffic.

8. Use Google Trends

As I mentioned previously, you should target your blog’s content toward keywords that are popular in a specific country whose traffic you are targeting.

For example, the keyword Bitcoin is very popular in India, but not in the rest of the world.

Try to find keywords that are popular with the audience in your target country, and craft a content strategy based on that.

For example, most iPhone blogs will have large chunks of traffic from the U.S. or the U.K, as the iPhone is more popular in those countries when compared to Asian countries.

Track Keyword Progress In Country-Specific Searches:

So far we have discussed techniques that you can use to target your website traffic for specific countries.

Next, you will need to keep track of the keyword’s progress in your target country. This will help you to find out which strategies are working and which are not.

When you identify a strategy that works, you can focus on that strategy and work on it to push it to the next level.

You can use SEMrush to check keyword rankings in particular countries.

Whenever you are writing a business plan for your blog, your targeted country should be at the top of your priority list. This will help you to efficiently plan your content marketing and guest blogging campaigns.
